In reply to Le Sapeur: the Pythons were very hit and miss-most of the sketches are pretty rubbish to be honest. In reply to Le Sapeur I find your post intriguing. If not you should do one. And now for something completely different. Pefa 23 Jan In reply to Le Sapeur: MP is pure eccentric English comedy genius full of classic scenes and terms that are a part of established British comedy culture, especially from LoB and the HG and still they still raise a smile and warm glow after all these years and lots of viewings.
Big nose! Ripping Yarns to is wonderful. Astropath 23 Jan In reply to Le Sapeur: I find it quite bizarre that several people have used the time of the death of a member of a group to make a big deal about how they don't actually appreciate the work of the group.
In reply to Pursued by a bear: I agree, the feature length stuff was much more consistent and all still funny. Tom Valentine 23 Jan Tobes 23 Jan In reply to Le Sapeur: Some of it is just plain awful and not funny at all Doug 23 Jan Stuart aka brt 23 Jan That still amuses my small mind. Plus she was absent drawing salary for all but the first 3 months or so of her "employment" of a year and a half - drawing salary but they couldn't even find out whether she was still in the country or had gone back to her high flying family in the middle east she told us she was asked at her interview what she would do if something urgent happened in her new "job".

I'm beginning to wonder if, back in the laugh-deprived Seventies, the English former public school boarders in charge of television connived with the "authorities" to put something in the water.
This nationwide doping made everybody accept what was manifestly not true. That Mssrs Cleese, Palin, Idle etc I can't be bothered to list the rest were comic geniuses and that shouting and silly walking were not tedious, but actually hilarious. Monty Python was humour for the aforementioned boarders, emotionally under-developed posh lads who really missed their mums and tried to make light of that fact by putting on mock working-class shop steward voices with their chums and farting under the bedclothes.
How they all brayed. Of course, as is the way with England, all these chinless lads went on to be our leaders in politics, TV and, sad to say, journalism. He went on to cite the 90s sitcom Men Behaving Badly , once voted the funniest comedy of all time, as an example of forgettable programming.
